Community Courier Terms
These terms apply if you deliver for your community through Localsville. They add to the Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the Community Guidelines.
They contain nothing about the Local Partner program. Delivering and being a Partner are separate things, and you should not have to agree to one in order to do the other.
1. Who can be a Community Courier
You confirm that you are 18 or older, and that you hold the insurance appropriate to how you deliver — including vehicle insurance if you drive.
Before you can take deliveries, your courier profile has to be verified by Localsville. That decision is ours, and we can revisit it.
2. You are independent
You are an independent person or business. You are not an employee, agent, partner or representative of Localsville LLC, and nothing here creates that relationship.
You choose when to be available, which deliveries to accept, and how to carry them out. Nothing is assigned to you. You can go off duty whenever you like.
3. How deliveries work
- Available deliveries appear in a pool for your community. You claim one; nothing is pushed to you.
- You hold one active delivery at a time.
- Before pickup, you can release a delivery back to the pool. There is no penalty, no strike, and no score.
- After accepting or picking up, if you cannot finish, you mark it so. The delivery ends and no fee is earned — but nothing further is charged to you.
- There are no ratings, no acceptance rates, and no ranking.
- Deliveries are limited to 50 miles between pickup and drop-off.
4. Doing it safely and honestly
- Do what you said you would do, when you said you would.
- Say something early if plans change.
- Do not carry anything illegal, stolen, hazardous, or requiring a licence you do not hold.
- Do not deliver while impaired.
- Treat the person receiving the delivery as a neighbour, because they are one.
- A drop-off address is given to you only while the delivery is live, and only so you can complete it. Do not keep it, share it, or use it for anything else.
- Follow the Community Guidelines in every interaction.
5. What you are paid
The buyer pays a delivery fee of $8.99 plus $1.50 per mile, up to 50 miles. You keep 75% of that fee; Localsville keeps the rest. You can see your share before you accept.
You are paid only for a delivery you actually complete. Cancelled and unfinished deliveries earn nothing.
Your earnings are held for 7 days after delivery before they become available to pay out.
Payouts run through Stripe Connect, which is where Stripe collects the identity and bank details it needs — we do not see or store your bank details. Payouts are sent once your available balance reaches $25, and courier payout runs happen weekly on Tuesdays.
Timing is not guaranteed. Money can be delayed by the hold period, a refund, a support or safety review, a problem with your payout account, or Stripe's and your bank's own processing.
If money has to come back
If a delivery fee you were already paid is later refunded, that amount becomes a negative balance — money owed back to Localsville — and it is recovered automatically from your next payouts before anything is transferred to you.
Your own taxes
We do not withhold tax. Income, self-employment and any other tax on what you earn is yours to handle.
6. We can pause things
We may pause, restrict or end your ability to deliver — including holding a payout — where we believe it is necessary for safety, for fraud, because of a support or moderation review, or because the law requires it. Where we can, we will tell you why.
If someone reports a problem with a delivery, the related earnings are held while it is reviewed. A held earning ends up in one of two places: released to you, or refunded to the buyer. Never both.
7. Stopping
You can stop delivering at any time — turn your availability off, or ask us to close your courier profile. Money owed in either direction has to be resolved before an account can close. Account closure generally is covered by Account Deletion & Data Retention.
8. Changes
If we change these terms we will tell you and update the effective date. If a change is material, you will be asked to agree again before continuing to deliver.
